Wild Glass – What it is and why we use it?

It seems that the bottle is just as important as the gin inside. Choosing our bottles was one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make.

While it was essential that our bottle is eye-catching, it also needed to have purpose and meaning beyond simply containing a spirit. We asked ourselves questions such as: what happens after the gin is finished? Can we reuse the leftover glassware? We felt that the bottle needs something special that transcends anything else we could find. How can we make it unique, interesting and – most importantly – sustainable?

The decision was easy once we found Estal and their range of Wild Glass Bottles.

So, let’s talk a little bit more about what Wild Glass is, what it means to us.

What is Wild Glass?

Wild Glass is a range of premium recycled bottles, produced with 100% post-consumer recycled glass collected within the vicinity of the production facilities; and forged by manufacturers who use the highest percentage of recycled glass on the market. Their usage of repurposed glass means re-forging can be done at a lower temperature, reducing energy consumption and lowering carbon emissions, and requiring fewer auxiliary materials.

According to their research, their patented methods have substantially lowered their environmental impact compared to standard production of flint glass. If you’d like numbers, by between 23%-65%

What we love most about this method is that the bottles we use are not always perfect. We love the imperfections, dents and contours which make each bottle unique. It gives them character and uniqueness that matches our own personality. The sustainability win here is that the rejection rate is reduced, again enhancing the efficiency of the production process.

We think our bottles are beautiful – and they demand to be recycled. Whether you pop them back into the recycling bin to re-enter the circular economy, or put freshly cut flowers on your table.
